Discover the stories, traditions, and creative spirit behind the Taubman Museum of Art’s American Folk Art Collection.

Katie Hirsch, Deputy Director of Exhibitions, will join artist and educator Brian Sieveking for an engaging conversation exploring the Taubman’s significant collection of American Folk Art. From handcrafted objects and self-taught artistry to works that reflect regional traditions and cultural heritage, folk art offers a unique window into the American experience.

Drawing from highlights in the Museum’s permanent collection, Hirsch and Sieveking will examine what makes folk art so distinctive and how these remarkable works help preserve stories that might otherwise be forgotten.

Whether you’re a longtime art enthusiast or simply curious about the people and traditions behind these extraordinary works, this conversation offers a fresh perspective on one of the Museum’s most treasured collecting areas.
