This position will assist the Head Preparator and Art Handler/Technician with museum-quality art handling related to the display, maintenance, and long-term care of the Museum’s collection and implementation of the Museum’s active schedule of exhibitions and programs. Responsible for assisting Museum staff with fine art handling, storage, packing, transportation, installations, and all related preparation for the collection and exhibition objects, and assisting facilities staff on an as-needed basis with non-gallery related maintenance, repairs, and projects as assigned. Support mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.
The Executive Assistant to the Director is responsible for working directly with the Executive Director to provide administrative support, Board of Trustees and donor relations, and support of special initiatives including but not limited to accreditation, 75th anniversary initiatives, and multi-departmental projects.
This position requires the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, hospitality, customer service, technical competence, professionalism, and proactive support in performing all duties. The ability to multi-task is a must.
The Museum Host/Guard is a highly visible, front-facing, customer service-oriented position at the Taubman Museum of Art, ensuring that visitors to the Museum have a positive experience while maintaining a safe environment for both the artwork on view and the people.
Primary duties fall during public hours or private/fundraising events when the Museum is not open to the public and include but are not limited to protecting the artwork, answering questions, enforcing rules, monitoring for suspicious behavior, providing assistance, engaging visitors in casual conversations about works of art, filling out incident reports as appropriate, and working closely with the Security Team and Community Engagement Team to properly open/close front of house and the facility.
