10:30am - 10:35am

Dorothy Gillespie is perhaps the best known artist to have come from the Roanoke Valley. With work extending from the Lincoln Center in New York to Epcot in Florida, Gillespie's work is beloved across the United States.

In this artwork spotlight, you'll learn about one of her early works, Dancers, painted while still a student.

The work is on view in the exhibition, Celestial Centennial: The Art and Legacy of Dorothy Gillespie, a retrospective celebrating the anniversary of her 100th birthday.

The exhibition is on view in the Bank of America/Dominion Resources Gallery, the Optical Cable Corporation Gallery, and the Resource Lounge from April 4-July 26, 2020, and is sponsored by the Roanoke Arts Commission, with additional support from the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation, Inc., and Susan and Geoff Jennings.
