The Museum’s dedicated volunteers are an integral part of its success. Since the opening of our new facility, countless volunteer hours have been provided by hundreds of members of our community, who make it possible for the Museum to offer a wide array of meaningful art experiences for adults and children alike. Our volunteers also enjoy a twice per year social gathering for a fun "night out" at the museum as well as a book club and other social opportunities. Your invitation is waiting!

Administrative Office Volunteer

Office volunteers work with different departments within the museum to assist with administrative tasks.

Art Venture Volunteer

Working in Art Venture is an excellent opportunity for those interested in art and education to gain hands on experience.  Volunteers will work with children ages 2 – 14 and families. We have opportunities for assistance during the week with our Children's Art Classes and PTA outreach and every Saturday for Spectacular Saturdays.

Summer Camp High School Ambassador

Summer Camp High School Ambassadors assist with the museum's summer camps. Each Summer Camp is taught by a Taubman staff member or visiting teacher. The summer camp high school ambassador will assist with preparation before the camp begins, guide participants through activities, and provide support in many other areas as they gain hands-on experience in a museum art classroom environment. Click here for more information and to apply.

Docent

Docents serve as tour guides for school and adult groups and individuals visiting the museum. Volunteers who elect to be docents will have the opportunity to participate in monthly education trainings and will be able to shadow current docents and be matched with a docent as a mentor. Please click here for more information.

Gallery Installation Volunteer

Installation Volunteers assist in the galleries with installing and taking down exhibitions.  They will train to prepare the galleries for each exhibition.  This is a great way to learn how the museum works behind the scenes and become a vital part of the museum’s installation team.

Special Events Volunteer

Special Events Volunteers help with various annual events including: the Women’s Luncheon, Sidewalk Art Show, Art of Golf, member receptions, and other occasions.  Volunteers may assist staff with all aspects of planning and preparation, set up and clean up, and assisting during the event.

Visitor Services Volunteer

Give a great first impression! Visitor Services Volunteers greet museum visitors, direct them to the appropriate entry point, pass out information, answer questions about exhibition locations, current and future exhibits, and encourage guests to participate in creative programming and activities. Greeters also leave an important lasting impression as they thank departing guests.
