Alma Ensemble Pop-Up Performance

Saturday, March 07, 2020

1:00pm - 2:00pm

Free and Open to All

Enjoy a free afternoon concert featuring The Alma Ensemble, an all-female group founded by flutist Sarah Wardle Jones, clarinetist Michelle Smith Johnson, and pianist Erica Sipes.

The Alma Ensemble was birthed from a desire of the founding members to create music in a way that is empowering and personally resonant. They place a high priority on playing music by other women composers, educating audiences by creating context for the pieces they select, and challenging traditional performance paradigms that inhibit, rather than enhance, the ability to communicate and connect with an audience.

To learn more about the Alma Ensemble, visit their web site at https://almaensemble.org.

This pop-up performance is free and open to the public as part of Roanoke Arts POP!, a winter celebration of arts and culture in Virginia's Blue Ridge.

Nearly two dozen organizations from the region will gather at the Taubman Museum of Art March 6-8 to share what makes them - and southwest Virginia - so culturally vibrant and fun. Don’t miss out!

Roanoke Arts POP! is generously supported by the Roanoke Cultural Endowment and Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge.
