Central to Their Lives: Southern Women Artists from the Johnson Collection

Saturday, February 06, 2021 - Sunday, June 13, 2021

Spanning the decades between the late 1890s and early 1960s, this exhibition examines the particularly complex challenges female artists confronted in a traditionally conservative region during a time when women’s social, cultural, and political roles were being redefined and reinterpreted.

Hailing from all of the Southern states, the numerous artists featured include Loïs Maillou Jones, Dusty Bongé, Alma Thomas, Anna Hyatt Huntington, and Helen Turner.

This exhibition will be on view in the Medical Facilities of America Gallery and Temporary Gallery February 6-June 13, 2021.

Exhibition and educational support is sponsored by Member One Federal Credit Union.
