The goal of this exhibition, created by Virginia Tech doctoral student and artist Matt Ames, is to bring together many diverse areas of Roanoke culture and have local artists portray the city from their own perspectives. The exhibit will include a living room space and personal maps of Roanoke. It is Ames’s belief that art must have particular connection to its location to be relevant, in much the same way that local food tastes better and serves its community better. Also included in this exhibition will be flags designed by neighbors of Roanoke’s Southeast neighborhood, as part of the Vexilloid Project.
Location: Second Floor Gallery Hall and Resource Center
