Adult Education Manager

The museum is seeking a self-directed, creative thinker, and highly organized educator to lead the adult educational programs at the Taubman Museum of Art.   

The Adult Education Manager at the Taubman Museum of Art develops and implements creative interpretive programs for adult Museum visitors. Programs include an array of traditional and experimental programs such as public conversations, music, lectures, classes, tours, the internships program, docent training, middle and high school student instruction, and professional development for teachers. The position builds partnerships with key regional institutions and community constituencies and engages a diverse range of audiences from college and young professionals to senior adult to look at art and ideas in new ways and to see the Museum as a resource. The manager oversees all logistics and AV for adult programs.   

The workweek runs Wed-Sat, including First Friday and Third Thursday evenings. The manager must show demonstrated experience running concurrent projects and expertly manage time, budget, and details.  The manager must be able to sets goals and determine priorities for the department in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Education & Visitor Engagement.

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in teaching, program development, program logistics, and administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience; broad-based knowledge of art history, art education, and museum education; studio arts skills required.
