State of the City Address 2014
Roanoke Mayor David Bowers presented the annual State of the City Address to business leaders at the Taubman Museum of Art on Friday, August 8th.
During the speech, Bowers highlighted several major projects from this past year, including the reopening of Elmwood Park and Amtrak's return to the Star City.
He also focused on Roanoke's crime rate, which dropped to its lowest point in 47 years.
Bowers concluded by looking into the future, saying academic economic development, cultural economic development, and tourism economic development will be key to the city's growth.
