From Idea to Wall: The Creative Process Behind a Public Art Mural

In this three-day hands-on seminar, students will work together to design and execute a collaborative site painting. The first two sessions will focus on mural conception and design. Students will take inspiration from central elements in the instructor’s work (including things vegetal, aquatic, and animal) and spend time drawing key pieces of the painting. During the third session, students will execute the mural, painting from a projection on the café wall outside of the Taubman Museum. The completed piece will be on view throughout the month and will reference the instructor’s large-scale floating installation, on view at the museum from October 18, 2012-April 13, 2013.
