Conversations: Perspectives on Edward Burtynsky: Oil

Perspectives on Edward Burtynsky: Oil
Thursday, October 25 │6:30pm

with Lori Pauli (Associate Curator of Photographs, National Gallery of Canada) and Delia Heck (Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Program Coordinator, Environmental Planning and Development, Ferrum College)

Photographer Edward Burtynsky’s color landscapes encompass a kind of modern-day “lifecycle” of oil, the energy source that has shaped the modern world. In this exciting program, Lori Pauli, author of Manufactured Landscapes, will introduce us to these striking photographs. Pauli and Delia Heck, professor of Environmental Science, will then host a conversation about how we might interpret these works in the dual contexts of art history and environmental science.

Presented in partnership with Ferrum College.

Admission: $4 Members
                     $8 Non-Members
Free for students with valid ID.
