Basic Bookmaking

In this workshop the student will learn a series of bookbinding techniques through binding their own small book. We will cover everything from the importance of paper and grain direction, cloth and board types, stitching techniques, bookbinding tools, planning and measuring, casing-in, and other bookmaking embellishments. By the end of the class, students will have a basic bookmaking vocabulary as well as the skills to create their own simple hand-bound book projects.
