The Ninth Annual Women's Luncheon raised $225,000. A sold out crowd of close to 800 people at the Hotel Roanoke and about 100 people in the museum's Black Box Theatre saw local leaders honored and former First Lady Laura Bush speak about literacy, education, and her time in the White House.
Roanoke, Va. (October 24, 2013) – The Taubman Museum of Art is pleased to announce that it will continue to offer free admission to the museum after receiving a generous gift of $75,000 from Advance Auto Parts. In October 2012 a $150,000 contribution from Advance Auto Parts enabled the museum to begin offering free general admission to the public.
“This gift supports everyone who resides in and visits the Roanoke region,” says Executive Director of the Taubman Museum of Art Della Watkins.

Light of Ours: Activist Photographers of the Civil Rights Movement on
September 21, which runs through Saturday, January 14.
exhibit presents the work of nine photographers from diverse backgrounds who in
the 1960s lived and photographed from within the Southern Freedom Movement.
They were "movement photographers," decidedly distinct from news
photographers, and their images reflect that difference.
